Pricing
How we quote
We quote each piece of work as a fixed price in Australian dollars, based on the size of your site, the research involved and the deliverables you need. The price is set in writing before you pay anything, and it moves only if we agree in writing to change what the work covers.
This page explains how we arrive at a price. It is separate from our guide to what information architecture costs in Australia, which looks at published market rates and how to compare quotes from any supplier.
What shapes an estimate
We look at five things when we estimate an information architecture project.
- Size. How many pages, templates and content types are in scope. For large sites we sample rather than review every page, and the quote states the sample.
- Research. Whether the plan is built from an inventory and staff interviews alone, or adds card sorting and tree testing with recruited participants.
- Deliverables. A findings report, a full sitemap, a taxonomy workbook, content models, a redirect map or several of these.
- Approvals. How many people review the work and how many revision rounds the plan allows.
- Inputs you can supply. An existing inventory, analytics access, a task list and a single decision-maker all reduce the hours needed.
Starting points
The figures below are starting points for the scopes below, in Australian dollars. They help you judge whether a conversation is worthwhile. Your written quote is the price that applies, and it may be higher or lower once we understand the scope.
| Service | Scope the starting point assumes | From |
|---|---|---|
| Information architecture audit | Up to about 300 pages, staff interviews, findings report | $3,200 |
| Navigation design | Global, local and footer menus, labels, behaviour notes | $3,600 |
| Sitemap planning | New or rebuilt site up to about 150 planned pages | $3,400 |
| Taxonomy design | Up to three vocabularies, rules and an old-to-new mapping | $2,800 |
| Internal linking strategy | Link inventory, orphan list, hub plan, editor rules | $2,600 |
| Content restructuring | Decisions and redirect map for up to about 500 addresses | $5,500 |
| Content structures for UX | Up to six content types with models and template outlines | $4,200 |
| Enterprise information architecture | Paid discovery phase, then a quote for the framework | $4,800 discovery |
| Tree test or card sort (add-on) | One round with up to 15 participants, analysis and changes | $1,900 |
For work outside these scopes, or a mix of services, we quote from an hourly rate of $180, estimated in advance and fixed in the quote. For comparison, Raw Studio's 2026 pricing guide, a commercial source, lists boutique studio rates of $150 to $220 an hour and full-service agency rates of $220 to $350.
GST
Prices are in Australian dollars. Where GST applies to our services, it is shown separately on the quote and the invoice, at 10%. business.gov.au explains that GST is "a tax of 10% on most goods, services and other items sold or consumed in Australia". If you are unsure how GST applies to a purchase of services, ask your accountant.

How payment works
- Quote. A written quote describing the scope, deliverables, timeline, price and what is excluded.
- Deposit. Work starts after a deposit, set out in the quote. For short projects, the quote may ask for the full fee in two parts.
- Changes. If the scope needs to change, we put the change and its price in writing. Nothing extra is billed without your written agreement.
- Balance. The balance is due on delivery of the agreed deliverables, as set out in the quote.
The terms of use cover the website itself. Each project quote carries its own terms for the engagement.
What our prices do not include
- Writing or rewriting content.
- Visual design and development.
- Setting up redirects on your server. We provide the map; your developer loads it.
- Participant incentives and paid testing tools for research, unless the quote lists them.
Getting a quote
Send a short description of your site and the problem you want to solve through the contact page. The information architecture worksheet produces a brief that gives us a good starting point. We reply by email with questions or a written quote.
Questions about quotes
Why not quote by the hour?
A fixed price for a defined scope lets you budget with certainty before work begins. Where the scope is genuinely unknown, we price a short discovery phase first.
What if we need more than the quote covers?
We explain why and quote the extra work separately. Nothing extra is billed without your written agreement.
